Maribel Guardia Could Regain Custody of Grandson

After nearly a month apart, Maribel Guardia might recover custody of her grandson due to a court order. Imelda Tuñón claims forced disappearance and challenges custody decisions.

The widow of Julián Figueroa, Maribel Guardia, may recover her grandson after almost a month without seeing him. On January 21, it was reported that Maribel accused her daughter-in-law of abandoning the minor and using substances. In response, the Attorney General's Office of CDMX ordered that the actress take care of her grandson while they investigated whether the mother was fit to care for him.

Imelda Tuñón, Maribel Guardia's daughter-in-law, reported through her Instagram account a supposed enforced disappearance of her son. She informed that a Protection Judge granted her and the child a suspension against the Attorney General's Office of CDMX and DIF CDMX. Imelda accused these institutions of being complicit in the enforced disappearance of her son, preventing all contact between mother and child despite her holding legal custody.

In the statement, it is mentioned that a special representative was designated for the child in order to prevent Maribel from continuing to psychologically harm him. Furthermore, the order that allowed Maribel Guardia to keep the minor for 90 days has been suspended, according to Imelda Tuñón herself.

Publimetro reported that, as part of the amparo granted to Imelda Tuñón, the police will go to Maribel Guardia's residence to verify if the minor is there. This action follows Imelda revealing to the authorities that she does not know the whereabouts of her son José Julián since January 21.
